A quick glimpse into what's keeping Gina Barlow and Youssef Mourra busy as they provide pro bono consulting at today's Project Management Institute Day of Service (PMDOS) at The Beehive in Wellington.

PMDOS is designed to support non-profit organisations who often face daunting challenges, such as limited resources, high demand, and insufficient funding. As a result, many lack the professional guidance, capacity, or capabilities to devise the most efficient approach to achieve their objectives.

Enter PMDOS - a transformative one-day community event designed to bridge this gap. Project Managers, Business Analysts, other Business Professionals, and students come together to provide pro-bono advisory services to local charities and non-profit organisations. By collaborating closely with non-profits, consulting teams help scope projects, and define clear outcomes and a plan to achieve their goals, and gain momentum to tackle initiatives head-on.

And a big thanks to the wider Nonsuch crew for their efforts - Kirsty Bennett, Kevin Maloney, Paul Sutton, Mee Moi E. and Kathryn#pmdosnz

Value management - what is it, how do you do it and why is it so, well.... valuable?

Value management is a formal, disciplined approach to helping organisations define, manage and more confidently capture tangible value, either created through operations and continuous improvement efforts or delivered from business transformation.
Unfortunately, a significant percentage of transformation efforts fail to deliver the full potential results and benefits.

True value management:

- Realises superior business results with speed and confidence
- Maintains the linkages between transformation and strategic objectives
- Establishes governance focusses on business results
- Provides and objective basis for setting priorities and making trade-offs
- Creates a roadmap of business actions needed to achieve the value
- Provide the mechanism for sustaining and extending the benefits, and
- Provides for tracking and monitoring of results.

Failure to achieve full potential of a transformation often comes from:

- The organisational focus not being on the highest impact opportunities
- Solutions that don’t deliver the required business capabilities
- A lack of accountability for achieving results, and
- Business actions not taken to achieve the full benefits.

But, what does good look like?

The programmes that are more successful at achieving the potential benefits tend to employ formal approaches to managing value throughout the transformation.

Successful leadership and change professionals help the business to achieve tangible and concrete business results by getting people ready, willing and able to deliver sustainable change at all levels of the organisation.

Organisations that are focusing on value management find it is increasingly recognised as an essential discipline in successful business transformation.

Want to be proactive and discuss how your approach to value management could increase the success of your business transformation? – get in touch!

The team that sautées together stays together!

Nothing like some healthy team competition to kick off our annual Nonsuch strategy session thanks to Social Cooking.

Teams were given a mystery bag of food and had to come up with a meal idea, prepare and cook the meal, and plate it for the judge in full Masterchef style.

Paul KEESING led the winning team to culinary victory, with spot prizes for the tidiest and messiest teams (we're looking at you and your team Youssef Mourra...).

Great way to get the creativity, collaboration and problem solving happening in advance of our 2-day strategy session!
